Step 1: Create TorBox account
1.1 Sign up for TorBox
- 1. Go to torbox.app
- 2. Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner
- 3. Create an account with your email address
- 4. Verify your email address by clicking the link sent to your inbox

Tip: The Standard plan ($9.99/mo) is the sweet spot for most users. It includes Usenet support and plenty of storage.
1.3 Complete payment
- 1. Select your preferred plan
- 2. Choose payment method (Credit card, PayPal, or cryptocurrency)
- 3. Complete the payment process
Privacy tip: TorBox accepts cryptocurrency payments (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) for enhanced privacy.
Step 2: Get your TorBox API key
2.1 Access API settings
- 1. Log in to your TorBox account at torbox.app
- 2. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner
- 3. Navigate to Settings → API
- 4. Find your API key in the API section (it will be a long string of letters and numbers)
- 5. Click "Copy" to copy your API key to clipboard
Keep this key private! Anyone with your API key can use your TorBox account. Never share it publicly.
Step 3: Install Stremio
3.1 Download Stremio
Go to stremio.com and download for your device:
3.2 Create a Stremio account
- 1. Open Stremio after installation
- 2. Click "Sign Up" and create an account
- 3. Verify your email address
Why create an account? Your addons and watch history sync across all your devices automatically.
Step 4: Configure Torrentio with TorBox
4.1 Open Torrentio configuration
- 1. Go to torrentio.strem.fun/configure
4.2 Configure Torrentio settings
Providers
Leave all providers checked (default) for the best source selection. More providers means more available content.
Priority Foreign Language
Select your preferred language if you want non-English content prioritized. Leave unchecked for English content.
Quality Filter
Select the quality levels you want to see (480p, 720p, 1080p, 4K, etc.). Recommended: leave all checked for maximum flexibility.
Debrid Provider
Scroll through the dropdown and select TorBox from the list.
TorBox API Key
Paste the API key you copied from Step 2 into this field.
Debrid Options (Recommended)
- ✓ Check "Don't show download to Debrid links" (cleaner interface)
- ✓ Check "Don't show Debrid catalog" (optional, reduces clutter)
- ✓ Check "Show P2P links" if you want non-cached torrents to appear
Sorting
Choose how streams are sorted. Recommended: "By quality then seeders" for best results.
4.3 Install the addon
- 1. Scroll to the bottom and click the "Install" button
- 2. Your browser should automatically open Stremio
- 3. Click "Install" in the Stremio popup to confirm
- 4. Wait for the confirmation message "Torrentio installed successfully"
Stremio not opening? Right-click the Install button, copy the link, then manually add it in Stremio: Settings → Addons → Add Addon → Paste the URL.
Step 5: Start streaming
You're all set! Here's how to use TorBox with Stremio:
- 1. Search for content — Use Stremio's search bar to find any movie or TV show
- 2. Click on a title — You'll see available stream sources from Torrentio
- 3. Look for cached sources — Streams marked with your Debrid provider tag are cached and ready to stream
- 4. Select quality — Choose the quality that matches your internet speed (4K, 1080p, 720p, etc.)
- 5. Click to play — Stream instantly with no buffering
Congratulations!
You're now streaming with TorBox! Cached sources will stream instantly at high speed from TorBox's servers.
Unlike Real-Debrid, you can use TorBox from multiple locations without IP restrictions. Perfect for travelers and VPN users!
Troubleshooting
No streams appearing in Stremio
- • Verify Torrentio is installed: Settings → Addons (should see Torrentio listed)
- • Double-check your TorBox API key is correct in Torrentio settings
- • Confirm your TorBox subscription is active at torbox.app
- • Try searching for a popular recent movie to test (e.g., "Dune")
- • Reinstall the Torrentio addon with your API key
Streams are buffering or playing slowly
- • Choose cached sources marked with your Debrid tag (fastest streaming)
- • Try a lower quality stream (720p instead of 4K if your internet is slower)
- • Check your internet connection speed (need at least 25 Mbps for 4K)
- • TorBox servers may be under heavy load — try again in a few minutes
- • Close other apps or devices using your internet connection
"Invalid API key" error
- • Go back to TorBox Settings → API and copy your API key again
- • Make sure you copied the entire key (no spaces before/after)
- • Reconfigure Torrentio with the correct API key
- • If you recently changed your TorBox password, generate a new API key
Content not cached on TorBox
- • Not all content is pre-cached (especially older or obscure titles)
- • Click on a non-cached source — TorBox will start downloading it
- • Wait 5-10 minutes and check again (depends on torrent size and speed)
- • Popular content is usually cached; niche content may take time
- • You can check your TorBox dashboard to see download progress
Can't install Torrentio addon
- • Make sure you're logged into your Stremio account first
- • Try the manual installation method: right-click "Install" → Copy link
- • In Stremio: Settings → Addons → Add addon → Paste the copied URL
- • Restart Stremio and try installing again
- • Check that your firewall isn't blocking Stremio
Using TorBox with a VPN
- • TorBox works great with VPNs (unlike Real-Debrid which restricts IP changes)
- • You can freely switch between VPN servers without issues
- • No need to whitelist IPs or worry about IP restrictions
- • Note: Using a VPN is optional — TorBox streams via encrypted HTTPS already
